Like I said it started off rocky. Lately the sun has decided it's going to shine through my eastern facing window a bit earlier which means I wake up earlier, a lot earlier. I grumbled as I threw the covers over my face trying to block out the light, then I remembered that earlier sun rises meant longer days which meant spring and summer. Negativity in check.
Work was slow, so slow we didn't even have a lunch rush. As I complained to myself that I wouldn't be taking home much money, I thought about how that meant I would get off earlier and have some time to recover before my long night of coaching. And an even better thing happened, I got to eat lunch with a fellow employee who is hilarious and shares many of the same beliefs I do as I found out today. Once again negativity in check.
Then after practice we had a swim meet. My feet were aching by that time, but instead of whining I just sat down with a few of my little ones and took goofy pictures with them until I couldn't stop smiling. And we had a great meet. One of the girls I personally coach ended up nailing her butterfly so well I couldn't even recognize her at first. I swore someone was swimming in her place. And again, check.
I'm so thankful God opened my eyes to this realization. My schedule won't change. My days are set. But the way I travel through those days and the decisions I make will affect everything, which is why I want to stay positive.
"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength."
Proverbs 17:22 (NLT)
