For the Cause (Day 203/204)

Since I've been really lazy for the past two days and haven't given myself any chances to receive blessings except for the ones we take for granted on a daily basis (running water, hot showers, hygiene in general, plenty of food, health, etc.), I want to dedicate this post to something that tears at my heart.

I was scrolling through Pinterest and came across a shirt I found pretty. After clicking on the link it brought me to a website called Sevenly.org. The website raises money each week for a different organization by selling apparel with very creative designs. This week was for sex trafficking. It's something that is so degrading to young women. It's something that shouldn't happen. Taking advantage of impoverished women by using their bodies is sickening. Right now I can't do much to help. I hope in the future I can do more to stop this repulsive sin. But at the moment I can only hope to bring more attention to the epidemic of trafficking. Many people don't know just how severe this is. This isn't just international, it happens in our borders. Sex trafficking is everywhere and it has to stop. I don't take this subject lightly. I wish you could feel what I feel when this subject is brought up. It's anger, hatred, betrayal, fear, tears, pain. Maybe I feel so much for these women, young women, even girls, because I picture what they must feel. They are only treated like objects and because of that I want to support this cause.

Sevenly is supporting Abolition International. A company who "seeks to combat domestic and international sex trafficking through accreditation, advocacy, education, and restoration."

So to give thanks to another thing I take advantage of: my freedom.
