As we talked she brought up things she enjoyed. She likes the DR, plantains, and encouraging people. Every day for her is unexpected and it can be tough at times. I told her I was glad she was finding things she liked and gave her an idea of writing everything down. I told her when I was having a lot of emotional ups and downs I started a journal where I just numbered off my blessings. Nothing was too small. And that's when it hit me. That was how this all started. I did this to find the good while surrounded by changes, uncertainty, and honestly just some upsetting times. Now that the times aren't so crummy I've lost the reason for this. Thanks to Becca I was reminded again. No matter how full my life fills, I can't stop looking for the small blessings. Like today, I didn't have anything most people would consider worth writing about, but does that mean I don't write? Umm.. no. So here's a few of my blessings that I consider great. I got to talk to a friend from Lubbock who I haven't seen since early summer, I was smart when I went shopping and I barely spent any money, my mom cooked fried chicken (my favorite non mexican meal), I fit in two walks today to help manage stress, my legs are sore from a lower body workout I got to do, and I got to talk to my best friend about when I'll leave tomorrow to go see her!
I guess finding blessings in a typical day is showing more reverence to God than finding the ones that don't really have to be found.
I hope so too.
